Citron Spring Dreams
Staub launched their latest color and I got the sneak peak. Why it's better than Le Creuset & my favorite pans for spring.
I had the honor of partnering with Staub a few weeks ago at Chicago’s Inspired Home Show (formerly The Housewares Show). And we launched THE COLOR OF THE SEASON… CITRON! This color is magical, gorgeous, happy, and insanely chic… it has a copper top.
Staub cookware is the rival to Le Creuset. You’ll probably see them as interchangeable. While both are French, cast-iron enamel, and oven/stove-to-table are my favorites, I prefer Staub for many reasons. Here are some of them…
My mother-in-law’s maiden name is Staub. Can’t ruffle feathers.
Staub's pans have an enamel cast iron lining that comes seasoned! This adds flavor and texture (it’s slightly ribbed). And to boot, since it’s black, it’ll hide stains that naturally occur from use.
Along the inside of its lids (flat-topped vs. the competitor’s rounded) are little bumps, which gather moisture (when the pot is covered) and drop back down into the food. Creating a “rainforest effect.” This allows the dish to retain all its moisture and stay juicy.
Staub pans - and their handles/tops - can withstand high temperatures, up to 500 degrees F.
Color launches are much less frequent and, therefore, very attuned to audience and trend. As I have seen and predicted, yellow is the new pink.
Here are the three pans I loved the most and why…
6.25 qt, Wide Oval Dutch Oven, Citron. This is the first oval they’ve made, and it’s 50% off.
5.5 qt, Round, Cocotte, Citron. The classic, if you need or want to splurge on one pan, it’s this.
12-inch, Braiser With Glass Lid, Citron. For under $200, a 12” braiser can do just about anything. One-pot pasta, searing, stews, roasts, etc. Great deal.
Rain forest effect!! Can’t beat that for sealing in moisture.
Oooh! I didn’t know about the interior being black! That’s a game changer.
