Everyone is always talking about oven-to-table pans and cookware - even I did last week. As a stylist, I love dishes that make plating and serving effortlessly chic; I also live for an outfit that can transition from kitchen to table.
Now, these get-ups are not your fancy dinner party outfits. Here are 5 anti-hot mess outfits that make you feel put together when you don’t have a break before guests arrive.
Candian Tuxedo. I love a Canadian tuxedo; it reads “cool” all year long. Mixing and matching denim colors is my favorite. I love all things AYR (I added one of their shirts below), but these are great have-forever jeans & a classic chambray top.
Julia Amory. The new shift/patterned dress. Cotton, aka breathable, is a must in the kitchen. Washable and elegant with little to no fuss. P.S. Patterns hide unexpected spills and splashes. Wear barefoot for extra chicness.
Overalls. Tailored ones like these. Nothing that screams, “I just painted my house.” You want something form-fitting but easy enough to move in.
A striped shirt. Ashley Kane Harper posted about her favorite last week, and it dawned on me that I love a great striped shirt, too. Perfect for days grilling out.
High Tops. I chucked my kitchen shoes years ago, but I hate cooking barefoot (it’s dangerous!). Pair these Nikes with any of the above, even the dress! It gives very fancy-not-fancy vibes that puts guests at ease.
Let me know what your favorite outfit to wear in the kitchen is… and wear it while you make this fabulous green, Three Pea Salad.
